I started a new crochet group, Kriekie's crochet on facebook where I'm sharing free patterns. (the regtangle shell blanket on the photo is already available.)  I've only started it recently, so theres not much going on at the moment, but I'm hoping it will take off and grow into something bigger. I've got lots of ideas and my own patterns that I want to share. I'm not good at pattern writing at the moment, but I will learn the best ways to do it and to make it grow.. And I'm sure I can count on your participation and input.  You're welcome to share your own creations on there and become active and share knowledge and stuff. Can't wait to see you there so hop on over.

Antique bedspread motif

Found a photo of a beautiful bedspread on the internet.  Unfortunately, couldnt find a pattern or any information, but it is so precious that I feel it deserves a place in modern crochet. Probably an antique pattern originated from Italy that was handed down from one generation to the other. So this is a variation of that pattern as I made some minor changes to it.

Just leave a message in the  comments section if you need step by step photo's of the pattern. It is a unusual pattern and maybe somewhat sonfusing.

With nr 5 cotton thread and 2 mm crochet hook, ch 7. sl st in 1st chain to form ring.
1st round: 3 trebel cluster (ch 4 for 1st treble)  3 st on hook pull through to form cluster.5 ks, 7 more treble clusters in ring. End with 5 ch, sl st in 1st cluster.

2nd round:* 3 sc in 5ch sp, ch 11, sc in 7th ch from hook, sc in each of next 4 ch, 2sc in 5ch sp*  Repeat 7 more times. You will now have 8 "spikes" with loops.Work may curl, don't worry, it will auto=correct.

4th round:to get to the next row, loosely sl st in ch till you reach 1st dc from previous round.hdc in dc, ch1, dc in next dc. ch1, rep 9x. hdc in last dc.

African flower crochet afghan

When doing a google images search, it is amazing how different the same pattern can look, just using different colors, and the African flower pattern is no exception.

I'm currently busy with an African flower afghan (Pattern was published in 2009 in the Afrikaans magazine, Sarie) in all shades of pink, purple and blue, with black edgings.

So far I've got 195  hexagons and 14 half hexagons.  Want to make it a bit bigger, not sure what will be a nice size. I'm using Mirage 4 ply with a 2mm hook.

Star stich one piece cardigan

I've been crocheting for 48 years and still find it very relaxing. There was, of course, stretches of time that I didn't crochet, because I was ocupied with one of my other intersts, like quilting, recycling denim or reading. I like to crochet afghans and clothing now and then. Its a pity that I don't have many photos of all the projects I'v done through the years - and there were many.
I've started a cardigan last year, making it up us I go, using the star stich. I started at the bottom back and crocheted the whole thing in one piece.  The only sewing that was needed was for the underarm seams.i will try this again sometime, but with a different crochet stitch and different yarn.  I fel in love with the yarn in the shop, it really looked amazing in the skein, but when crocheted, not so much. I intended it for myself to wear around the house, but then saw  someone who need it more than me and gave it away.  The recipient was very happy with it
